Alexander Graham Bell gave us a brilliant quote that we can all apply to our lives – “When one door closes, another door opens.”
Life doesn’t always work out the way we hope or plan. When this happens, many people get discouraged and fall prey to negative thinking.
You may not have got the promotion you wanted, so now you’re “stuck” in your job indefinitely. Maybe you are trying to conceive a child but it just doesn’t seem to be in the cards. Or maybe someone you love has deeply hurt you and you feel like you’ll never be happy again.
When we suffer a setback in life, it really is all in how we look at things. In our mind, a setback is final and devastating – the door is closed shut. But, if we flip our thinking, and start to understand that there is always another door that is open and beckoning for you to enter, we will learn how incredible results can be manifested in our life.
That promotion you wanted? Sure, it didn’t work out – but you can now find something that will make you just as happy – or maybe even happier. Many successful entrepreneurs started their companies after being fired! Did they focus on the closed door, or the open door?
The child you are having trouble conceiving? The open door would be to explore other options – there are millions of babies just waiting to be adopted into a stable and loving home.
And that person that hurt you? If you walk through the open door, you will find the right person who will love you and never want to hurt you.
What doors are you focusing on in your life?
It is important to always seek the silver lining during hard times. Persevering when the ‘going gets tough’ only makes us wiser and stronger. It’s not always easy, but learning to master this mind technique will do nothing but bring good into your life – because you are looking for the good.
The universe will never present a problem that cannot be solved. When you look for the door that is open, you will find the solution.
